It started with a garden

Becoming a Gardener

My name is Jill Brady and Heathside Flower Garden is our restored, Victorian walled garden on Reigate Heath. After 25 years in the corporate world, I decided to take a step back to spend time with my teenage daughters before they left home. I had never had time for hobbies but discovered the peacefulness of having my hands in the soil and the satisfaction of sowing and growing a beautiful bloom from a tiny seed.

Community & Friendship

Spending more time on the Heath has meant I have more time to be part of our friendly, local community. Friends and neighbours have helped in the garden and joined me to cut and arrange flowers. We have provided flowers and arrangements for local weddings and events and have had lots of fun making wreaths at Christmas. I have loved the joy that the garden has brought to me, my friends and our local community and can’t wait to share it with as many as people possible.

Our
Ethos

Our flowers are 100% British and in the summer months will all be cut on Reigate Heath. We are part of the slow flower movement. We grow without chemicals, we aim to enhance the local ecosystem and we seek to regenerate our soil. Our pollinators matter to us and we have bee hives in the orchard. We use local llama poo to fertilise our soil. We are peat-free.

We aim to be a useful part of our local community and try to do the right thing whenever we can. If we can help, we will!
